In the exhibit CHINO-LATINO from Puerto Rican artist Miguel Trelles, the colonial history of the Antilles is rewritten through a “creative misreading” of traditional Chinese landscape paintings from the Sung and Ming dynasties. His hybrid compositions fuse the Chinese gestural style with figures and scenery that evoke a distinctly Caribbean landscape.
